Privacy policy
Last updated: October 7, 2026
This page is an English translation provided for convenience. If there is any discrepancy, the French version prevails. Read the French version.
In short: the three extensions run in your browser and do not send your browsing history to the publisher. StreamMaster does, however, store in your browser the address and title of the pages where you watch a video, the playback position and the time watched per site over 30 days (automatic saving is on by default). This data stays on your device. Only the saves (address, title, playback position) can be copied to your Google account, if you turn on StreamMaster sync; the time watched is not synced.
In all three extensions, the ExtensionPay payment library stores in Chrome’s sync storage an installation date, then, if you open the payment or login page, a technical identifier, and finally the status of your purchase, with your email address after a purchase. If Chrome sync is on, this data is copied to your Google account. Exchanges with servers are used to pay for and check the Premium plan (ExtensionPay and Stripe) and, for SpeedMaster up to version 1.5 and Dark Mode FR up to version 1.0.3, to load a font from Google Fonts. No ads, no tracking, no selling of data.
This policy has one section per extension, followed by the rules common to all of them.
1. Data controller
EI HUE FLAVIEN (Entreprise Individuelle), Flavien Hue, 173 rue de Courcelles, 75017 Paris, France. Contact: contact@flavienhue.fr. This policy covers the Chrome extensions Dark Mode FR, SpeedMaster and StreamMaster, as well as this website.
2. Dark Mode FR
Dark Mode FR only changes the colors of the 21 supported sites. It does not read the content of pages and does not keep a browsing history. To apply your settings and recognize the open site, it reads the tab’s address, only on these 21 sites, without saving or sending it. The following data is stored locally in your browser (chrome.storage.local):
- preferences: on/off state, chosen theme, intensity, scheduling times;
- installation date, used only to calculate the 7-day trial period;
- days of use: the dates (with no time or site visited) on which dark mode was used, so the extension can ask you once to rate it;
- after the trial ends, for each Premium site where the “trial ended” notice was shown, the date of that last notice (it is shown at most once every 3 days per site);
- suggestions prepared from the extension: type, site, text, date, version and, if you entered it, your email address. The message is sent by your own email software, with the extension version and information about your browser (version and operating system);
- cached Premium status (date of the last check, purchase date);
- whether the welcome page was shown, and your answer to the invitation to rate the extension.
Apart from the suggestions you send yourself by email, this data is not sent to the publisher. It is deleted when you uninstall the extension.
Sync storage and Premium check
From the first launch, the ExtensionPay payment library built into Dark Mode FR stores an installation date in Chrome’s sync storage (chrome.storage.sync), which is copied to your Google account if Chrome sync is on. When you open the payment or login page, ExtensionPay creates a random technical identifier, stored in the same place (see section 5). As long as this identifier does not exist, Dark Mode FR does not contact ExtensionPay. After that, the extension checks your Premium status with ExtensionPay every time you open its window and after a payment; ExtensionPay then receives your IP address. Its answer (paid or not, plan, payment date, subscription status and, after a purchase, your email address) is stored in chrome.storage.sync. The publisher has no access to this storage.
Font
Up to version 1.0.3, the extension window and its welcome and suggestion pages load their font from Google Fonts, which sends your IP address to Google. The welcome page opens by itself when you install the extension. From version 1.0.4, the font ships with the extension and Google Fonts is no longer contacted.
Permissions
- storage: store your settings and Premium status;
- alarms: scheduled dark mode, only if you turn it on;
- access to the 21 sites: apply the dark mode stylesheet to them;
- extensionpay.com: receive the Premium payment confirmation.
3. SpeedMaster
SpeedMaster’s settings stay in your browser (chrome.storage.local, and chrome.storage.session for each tab’s speed, which is cleared when the browser closes):
- chosen speeds, per-site rules and speed profiles;
- theme and display preferences;
- usage statistics (videos sped up, time saved, shortcuts used, number of sessions, installation and last-use dates);
- cached Premium status (paid or not, date of the last check).
This data is not sent to the publisher. The extension does not collect your browsing history: it acts on the videos in the pages you open. When you open its window, it reads the title, source, size and length of the videos on the page to list them, as well as the tab’s address to show its domain name; this information stays in your browser and is neither saved nor sent. Only a site’s domain name is saved, when you create a per-site rule yourself. If you have Premium, the extension also reads the tab’s address each time a page loads, to compare its domain name with your per-site rules; this comparison happens in your browser, and the address is neither saved nor sent.
Sync storage and Premium check
From the first launch, the ExtensionPay payment library built into SpeedMaster stores an installation date in Chrome’s sync storage (chrome.storage.sync), which is copied to your Google account if Chrome sync is on. When you open the payment or login page, ExtensionPay creates a random technical identifier, stored in the same place (see section 5). As long as this identifier does not exist, SpeedMaster does not contact ExtensionPay. After that, the extension sends it to ExtensionPay to check Premium: when the browser starts, when the extension is installed and at each update, once a day, when you open its window or its Premium page, after a payment, and at most once an hour when Chrome restarts the extension in the background. ExtensionPay then receives your IP address. Its answer (paid or not, plan, payment date, subscription status and, after a purchase, the email address you paid with) is stored in chrome.storage.sync. The publisher has no access to this storage.
Up to version 1.5, the extension’s Premium page loads its font from Google Fonts, which sends your IP address to Google. From version 1.5.1, the font ships with the extension and Google Fonts is no longer contacted.
Permissions
- site access: detect videos, apply the chosen speed, show the widget and list the videos in the extension window;
- storage: store your settings, statistics and Premium status;
- activeTab: read the domain name of the active tab when you open the window (per-site rules);
- alarms: check the Premium status once a day;
- extensionpay.com: Premium payment and check.
4. StreamMaster
To work, StreamMaster stores the following in your browser (chrome.storage.local):
- saves: page address and title, video position and duration, date, category and profile. Automatic saving, on by default on all sites for new installs, creates them while a video plays, without any action from you; you can turn it off in the Settings tab;
- “Watch later” list: address, title, duration and date added;
- viewing history: site name, date and time watched, kept for 30 days, including in the free version (it is used for the Premium statistics);
- settings: theme, interval and sites for automatic saving, notifications, categories, profiles, Premium status;
- technical data: installed version, free access for earlier users, status of the last sync, pending resume reminders (deleted when the notification or the tab is closed).
To offer to resume a video (reminder on by default), the extension compares, in your browser, the address of each page that loads with your saves; this address is not stored if it doesn’t match any save.
This data is not sent to the publisher, who has no access to it. It is deleted with the “Clear all data” button (Settings tab, version 2.2 and later) or by uninstalling the extension. This button does, however, keep your Premium status, the free access of earlier users, the installed version and the ExtensionPay data (installation date, identifier, purchase status and email address), so you don’t lose a purchase: this data is deleted when you uninstall the extension, and the data held by ExtensionPay on request to contact@flavienhue.fr. It also resets all settings to their defaults: automatic saving is switched back on for all sites, along with notifications and resume reminders. You can then turn automatic saving off again in the Settings tab. Days older than 30 days are removed from the history the next time watch time is recorded.
Sync (Premium, off by default)
If you turn on sync, your saves (address, title limited to 80 characters, position, duration, date, category, profile) are copied to chrome.storage.sync, that is, to your Google account, through Chrome sync, so you can find them on your other devices signed in to the same account. This storage is provided by Google under its own privacy policy; the publisher has no access to it. Because of Chrome’s limits, the oldest saves may not be synced. Turning sync off does not delete the copies already in your Google account: use “Clear all data”.
Premium check
From the first launch, the ExtensionPay library stores an installation date in chrome.storage.sync, which is copied to your Google account if Chrome sync is on, even if StreamMaster’s own Sync option is off. When you open the payment, subscription or login page, ExtensionPay creates a random technical identifier, stored in the same place. Once this identifier exists, the extension queries ExtensionPay every time the browser starts, every time you open its window and during a payment; ExtensionPay then receives your IP address. The answer (paid or not, payment date, plan, subscription status and the email address used for the purchase) is stored in chrome.storage.sync. If Chrome sync is on, StreamMaster also uses this identifier on your other computers signed in to the same account. Without this identifier, StreamMaster does not contact ExtensionPay.
Permissions
- storage: store your saves and settings; sync storage is used for sync (Premium) and for the ExtensionPay data;
- scripting: read and restore the video position in the page;
- notifications: confirm a save and offer to resume a video;
- site access: detect videos and save automatically on any site, and communicate with extensionpay.com for payment.
5. Premium payment: ExtensionPay and Stripe
The Premium plans of the three extensions are sold through ExtensionPay (extensionpay.com), a payment service for extensions, and card payments are processed by Stripe.
- When you pay, you give your email address and payment details directly to ExtensionPay and Stripe. The publisher never has access to your card number.
- To check whether Premium is active, each extension exchanges with ExtensionPay a random technical identifier, created the first time you open the payment or login page. It is stored in Chrome’s sync storage (
chrome.storage.sync), and therefore in your Google account if Chrome sync is on, and it does not reveal the sites you visit. At each check, ExtensionPay receives your IP address, like any web server. - The ExtensionPay library stores in the same place the installation date (from the first launch, for all users) and ExtensionPay’s answer: paid or not, payment date, plan, subscription status and, after a purchase or a login, the email address you paid with. The publisher has no access to this storage.
- The login button (« Déjà Premium sur un autre ordinateur ? Se connecter » in Dark Mode FR; “Already Premium? Log in” in StreamMaster, which follows your browser’s language; “Already Premium? Log in” in SpeedMaster) uses the email address you paid with to find your purchase on another browser.
- The extensions’ exchanges with ExtensionPay use an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Card details are entered only on ExtensionPay and Stripe pages and never go through the extension.
Through ExtensionPay and Stripe, the publisher receives the information needed to manage the sale (email address, name if applicable, plan, amount, date), in order to handle purchases, cancellations, refunds and support, and to send you the information required by law, in particular the reminder before a yearly subscription renews. Your email address is never used for marketing.
6. Website and forms
- Contact form (question, bug, feedback, suggestion): the information you enter (email address, type of message, extension concerned, message and, if you provide them, the address of the page or site concerned and your browser) is sent to Formspree, which passes it on to the publisher, only to reply to you and fix the problems reported. The form automatically adds the language of the page.
- Hosting: the website is hosted by Vercel Inc., which processes technical logs (including IP address and browser) to keep the service secure and running.
- Fonts: the website’s font is hosted with the website itself; this website makes no requests to Google Fonts.
- Cookies: the website does not set any advertising or audience measurement cookies, and does not use any analytics tool.
- Security: the website and the contact form use an encrypted connection (HTTPS).
7. Legal bases and purposes
- Performance of the contract: operation of the extensions, trial period, payment, Premium activation, cancellation, refunds;
- Legal obligations: keeping accounting records, information before yearly subscriptions renew;
- Legitimate interest: replying to your messages, fixing bugs, website security.
8. Recipients and transfers
Data is neither sold nor used for advertising. It is processed by the providers mentioned (ExtensionPay, Stripe, Formspree, Vercel, and Google for Chrome sync, which carries the ExtensionPay data of all three extensions and StreamMaster’s saves if you turn on its sync, as well as for the fonts of SpeedMaster and of Dark Mode FR up to version 1.0.3), some of which are based in the United States. These transfers are covered by the safeguards provided for by the GDPR (European Commission standard contractual clauses or the Data Privacy Framework).
9. Chrome Web Store User Data Policy (Limited Use)
The use and transfer of information received by Dark Mode FR, SpeedMaster and StreamMaster adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
In practice, this data is used only for the features of each extension and its Premium plan, as described in this policy. It is passed on only to the providers listed in section 8, for these features, or when the law requires it. It is not sold, not used for advertising, and not used to assess creditworthiness or for lending. The publisher only looks at your purchase information to handle your requests (support, refunds), meet legal and accounting obligations, or fight fraud.
10. Retention periods and deletion
- Data stored in your browser: until you delete it, with the option the extension provides when it has one (“Clear all data” in StreamMaster, deleting profiles and per-site rules in SpeedMaster), or by uninstalling the extension. StreamMaster’s viewing history is limited to 30 days;
- Chrome sync storage (ExtensionPay data, StreamMaster’s synced saves): Chrome deletes it when you uninstall the extension; you can also clear your Google account’s synced data from Chrome’s sync settings;
- Purchase data (ExtensionPay, Stripe): for as long as your Premium access lasts, then 3 years after it ends. You can ask for it to be deleted sooner at contact@flavienhue.fr, except for what the law requires to be kept. Stripe also keeps its own data under its policy (stripe.com/privacy);
- Technical identifier created at ExtensionPay without a purchase (after simply opening the payment or login page): deleted on request to contact@flavienhue.fr;
- Accounting records (payments, refunds): 10 years, as required by law;
- Contact form messages: the time needed to handle your request, then 3 years at most.
11. Your rights (GDPR)
Under the GDPR, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, object to and port your data.
- Extension data: you control it directly (settings, JSON export and “Clear all data” in StreamMaster, uninstalling).
- Data held by ExtensionPay (identifier, purchase status and email address), payments and messages: write to contact@flavienhue.fr.
You can also lodge a complaint with the CNIL, the French data protection authority (www.cnil.fr).
12. Minors
The extensions are not specifically intended for children. Premium payment is reserved for adults or for people authorized by their legal representative.
13. Changes and contact
This policy may be updated; the date of the last update is shown at the top of the page. For any question: contact@flavienhue.fr.
